One-stop shopping for all of my boating needs. Easily the most varied and complete marine and summer boating related goods store in the area. Huge selection of skis, boards, ropes, etc, as well as a massive variety of clothing that is ideal for the warmer months. After some research i have found that their prices are more reasonable than first thought. All the essentials to make a summer on the lake full of smiles.

I had the pleasure of renting the party boat with some girls for my bachelorette weekend and just WOW. We had an absolute awesome time with the driver Joe. He made the trip so much better. He was nice, laid back, fun, and handled us like champs. If we had anyone else, I truly don't think we would of had as much of a good time. Any question we asked him about the area he had an answer to. TOP notch employee! We will definitely be back, thanks Joe!

First, the good news. We rented a pontoon boat. The boat was in good shape and ran well. No surprises when we picked it up or returned it.
Now, the suggestions. Several of the pontoon boats lacked adequate dock lines. Our boat had two very short lines (about 5 feet). That's not long enough for emergency towing or tricky docking situations. At least two of the rental boats had only one line, such that users only connected the boat at 1 end. The users had walked away from the boats and the boats went sideways in their slips, creating a bad situation for other boaters who had to push the pontoons out of the way to get their boats into the shared slips. The lack of adequate lines was a topic of conversation among 3 groups who were at the dock.

Several life jackets on our boat were missing the strap to hold them on. They were the cheapest, least adequate life jackets I've every seen in many years of boating. Had we been interviewed by law enforcement, several would have been disallowed because of the shape they were in. Saving money on cheap life jackets is never a good idea.

The gas gauge on our boat was nonfunctional (reading EMPTY). With an internal tank that you can't lift up to determine its status, we were constantly worried the tank might be empty.

Finally, even though numerous boats were all returning at the 4.30 deadline, no marina staff were present on the dock to help less experienced boaters get into the narrow slips (which had poorly attached boats sideways in the slip). Given the highly concentrated return event, the marina should have staff on hand to help boats deal with the return process.

So management has some important items to work on. The only thing saving this from a two star rating is the fact that the boats are in otherwise good condition.

My family and I rented a pontoon boat today, and it was far from the experience we were expecting.

When booking the rental we spoke with Joe, who was very kind and helpful- when we arrived the staff we encountered were less than kind and helpful.

Apparently the boat we were supposed to have was damaged, so we were given a different boat. The boat we were given was NOT what we were expecting, but we had very excited kids so we just went with it.

The boat we were given not only took 45 minutes to get started due to a dead battery (the gentleman who replaced the battery was the only friendly staff we encountered). The boat also had mold on the seats, torn seats, mold on the life jackets, items left behind from others, the radio didn’t work, the depth finder didn’t work, the horn didn’t work & there was no cooler or the float to throw out for helping a tired swimmer back to the boat. We had to ask for proper life jackets for our children as the sizes on the boat were incorrect and moldy. We were given the correct sizes, however they were not friendly about this request for our children’s safety. We also were not told how to properly use the newborn life jacket, which was VERY disappointing.

The kids were excited for floats while out on the water that Joe told us were provided/available when booking, so we didn’t bring our own- we were told they did not have any floats to to with the boats.

When we returned at 5pm, which we were not told a return time we just saw the hours on the doors, there was only one employee left and she was locking up as we caught her. She was not happy to take the keys & she did not check the boat to be sure it was tied properly or anything at all.

We are VERY disappointed with the service and items provided for the price that we paid for a fun day for our children on the lake. We have tried to contact them privately all week to no avail before posting this review. We absolutely will not be returning to rent again and we will not be recommending to our family & friends.

Made a purchase in the Board Shop. Very friendly staff, answered all of my questions, made suggestions for a better fit, very satisfied with my purchase. I was on the water the same day in my new life vest.

Their service department is very slow at getting repairs taken care of. They feel like they have a captive audience, if you slip your boat there. They kind of have you over a barrel, because where else are you going to go for service? So they can treat you any way they want. Edit to post from last year. We had rented a slip at Culver Marina for the past 25 years. After calling tofind out why we had not received a renewal notice this year Lynndi, the owner/manager called us back and said she is not renewing our slip rental due to my original post and poor rating. When asked why we were not notified of this sooner she said " you are finding out now." Extremely unprofessional for an owner/manager to act that way. Therefore I reiterate the low rating I previously posted.

Very very unhappy with the service we received on 8/9/15. We were very interested in buying a new or used boat today and we walked back into the show room and no one introduced themselves. We left the Michigan City boat show to come here to look further and thought we would get better service here. We had to ask the salesmen what the prices were, we inquired about used boats and he replied "they are put up", didn't even ask us if we would like to view them. The salesman that was in the showroom didn't offer us any brochures or information, he went back and sat in his office and was eating. I feel like we were judged very poorly and we will never return to do any kind of business here.
